Who Used Shii-Cho?Īs the other combats forms were invented, Jedi got involved in those more advanced forms, and Shii-Cho was limited to beginner’s training. This form was more advanced and suitable for head-to-head lightsaber combats. Such situations caused the invention of 2 nd form of combat. The purpose of Jedis had shifted from disarming the opponent to surviving the fight. The Sith lords started to adapt to the lightsabers and learned the Shii-Cho Form as time passed. It was great but was not meant to stay like this forever. It helped the Jedi defeat the opponents and easily keep the Sith overpowered. In the beginning, Shii-Cho’s invention proved to be very effective. Shii-Cho was developed in a way only to cut down the weapons and disarm the opponents rather than kill them. ![]() The invention of Shii-Cho helped Jedis slice down multiple opponents. Like the primitive metal swords, the Shii-Cho Form only offers basic strikes and blocks of another lightsaber.įorm I was a success considering it could easily cut all the melee weapons like clubs, swords, or similar weapons. Shii-Cho’s limits were confined to basic offense and defense moves. With this new invention, lightsabers could cut down from all angles, unlike metal swords that can only cut from one direction. The form Shii-Cho came with the discovery of lightsabers themselves replacing the primitive metal swords. The Jedi council first created Shii-Cho in the early times after the Sith Lords, and Dark Jedis began to appear in numbers. Due to the persistence of this form, same to that creature, it was named “Way of the Sarlacc.” The same creature Boba Fett came out of in “The Book of Boba Fett.” Series. A Sarlacc is a creature of Tattoine that hides in the ground and waits for its prey. Let’s talk about all the lightsaber forms, their benefits, limitations, and who used them.įorm I is the first lightsaber combat form, also known as the determination form and way of the Sarlacc. Every Jedi or Sith was seen using at least one lightsaber combat form throughout the series, except for a few who learned multiple forms. It can take several years to master one form of lightsaber combat. All the forms are different from each other in approach and tactics. Those fighting styles come from different lightsaber combat forms that evolved over centuries to overpower the menacing danger of rising Sith lords and Dark Jedis.Īs learned from Star Wars Saga, lightsaber combat has seven forms. Some are very offensive, some have an unbreakable defense, while others focus on agility and precision. In later periods though, only rarely would Jedi face an adversary with a weapon capable of repelling a lightsaber. We see Jedis and Sith lords using different fighting styles throughout the Star Wars Saga. Early in the weapon's history, when the Sith were numerous, the art of lightsaber dueling flourished. The Jedi's attunement to the Force accounted for the almost superhuman agility and reflex illustrated in the use of the lightsaber. Through this bond in the Force, the blade became an extension of their being it moved with instinct as though it were a part of the body. The Jedi were trained to use the Force as a conduit between the wielder and the weapon. It could be wielded one-handed or with both hands. The lightsaber was a very versatile weapon, owing to its unique lightness and Omni-directional cutting ability. ![]() ![]() ![]() A riposte was a technique where the user struck an opponent after deflecting or blocking an attack. All seven traditional lightsaber forms included the same basic techniques as ancient sword-fighting styles, such as defensive postures, overhand strikes, parries, and counters. It had been said that only a Force-sensitive individual could completely master lightsaber combat, though there have been some great non-force sensitive duelists, such as Pre Vizsla, or General Grievous. It was difficult to master for a number of reasons, one of them is that all of the weight a lightsaber had was in its hilt. Throughout the millennia since the lightsaber's creation, the art of dueling with them developed into seven "classic" forms and numerous other styles. For example, the dueling-centric Makashi form was created during a time when Dark Jedi and rogue Force-sensitives ran rampant through the galaxy, and lightsaber duels became a common occurrence, whereas Soresu was developed when such confrontations were rare, and Jedi were more likely to confront blaster-wielding opponents and gunslingers rather than lightsaber duelists. Darth Vader by Jeremy GillThe various combat forms owed their unique focuses and methods to the eras in which they were created, as they were oftentimes developed to answer a new generation of weapons technology.
